...I went into labor. I was sure that we were going to have to wait to be induced, but Henry had his own sense of timing. (He still does!) Brent went to Caldwell, about 20 minutes away, to trade his Kawasaki Ninja in for a Harley Davidson (yay!). While he was gone his sister Jaime came over to hang out with me. In retrospect we joked that all we have to do to go into labor is have Brent leave to go look at motercycles. By the time he got home, I was ready to go to the hospital! We got there at 2:30 or so and I was dialated to a two. They had us walk around the labor and delivery floor for an hour to see if I would progress. It went so fast! I was concentrating so hard on dealing with the contractions that I didn't notice the time at all. When they checked me again I had dialated about another centimeter, so they admitted us. I remember being so worried that they would send us home. I also remember that the nurse who checked me was so sweet that I actually complimented her on how gentle she was. She was shocked. I quickly got the reputation of "the nicest laboring woman ever" which stuck with me through the next 13 hours.
Back labor is rough, but I really wanted to wait on medication to see if I could handle it. So I tried for about 4 hours. I finally gave in to getting the epidural when I started to cry that I didn't think I could do this. It was worth the work and the wait. I'm really proud of myself for waiting that long. And the next several hours just seemed to fly by. I found I had to breathe through the contractions anyway because they made me feel so short of breath. They gave me oxygen at some point. I think it was close to midnight when I started pushing, and Henry was born at 3:07am. That was the hardest part. The pushing... ugh.
Henry and I both had a rough time. But, boy, was he worth it!

I second the statement that "he" is worth it! I love spending time with my little grandbaby. He is absolutely the cutest & sweetest little guy ever (Nana's unbiased opinion). We are so glad that you and Henry both came through his birth with flying colors. pRAISE THE LORD for His graciousness.
Thanks for posting your delivery story. He looks like such a sweet little boy! Hope you are getting some sleep :)
Henry does look like a sweet boy! So cute... I love, love, love seeing and hearing how much in LOVE with him you two are. I'm so glad you called to give me the latest. :) Chris and I will try to come visit next time we're in Boise. I can't wait to meet your Sweet Henry! (And to see you!) :)
